“Service Learning in Health and Wellness” is a course offered by CCAPP at The City College of NY, which guides students to learn through hands-on services that address health issues in Harlem.
We've worked on making healthy snacks available in school vending machines, improved school cafeteria’s recycling, convinced local bodegas to offer healthy lunches, hosted farmers’ market, and developed a Healthy Living Guide with cancer prevention tips.

Halotherapy
I recently saw this & found it rather interesting on the news about an age old therapy known as halotherapy (or salt tharapy). Apparently people suffering from asthma, skin problems, bronchitis, allergies and much more respiratory problems can sit in what is known as a salt room or salt cave for a certain period of time and inhale the salt aerosols. The negative ions of the salt particles help to clear the body of mucus & even purify the lungs. There are currently locations around NYC that offer the therapy for those of you suffering from any respiratory problems. Here's a website for those of you that wish to read more on this: http://www.saltcave.us/halotherapy.html

That is kind of cool. I would like to go into one of those caves especially now since allergy season is coming up.
ReplyDeletewow... you know in India, as a preventive measure, people do things like that. like have salt water boiling and inhaling the vapors to get rid of mucus etc. Interesting
