“Service Learning in Health and Wellness” is a course offered by CCAPP at The City College of NY, which guides students to learn through hands-on services that address health issues in Harlem.
We've worked on making healthy snacks available in school vending machines, improved school cafeteria’s recycling, convinced local bodegas to offer healthy lunches, hosted farmers’ market, and developed a Healthy Living Guide with cancer prevention tips.

I am liking the green cart idea. What I think they should do is shut down a street, (or they can use the CCNY streets( in front of Marshak and NAC) once a week and let people who have permits for green carts congregate and sell their healthy food.
ReplyDeleteI find it intimidating to go up to one guy and ask for vegetables or fruits. I feel so much better when theres alot more ppl around.
I have seen this coming together near NYU's buildings on West 4th. When I went there there would be people selling fruits, vegetables, paintings(very beautiful I might add), sculptures made or all types of materials (including recycled soda cans),even stores(I forgot the name) would give out free samples of their food.
There would also be promotions for things such as new hand creams.
So this could be another idea on how we can combat obesity.
