“Service Learning in Health and Wellness” is a course offered by CCAPP at The City College of NY, which guides students to learn through hands-on services that address health issues in Harlem.
We've worked on making healthy snacks available in school vending machines, improved school cafeteria’s recycling, convinced local bodegas to offer healthy lunches, hosted farmers’ market, and developed a Healthy Living Guide with cancer prevention tips.

ReplyDeleteupon different variables and the control group, it was shown the change in diet and exercise together is not the fastest way of improving weight. Individually, diet and exercise do make more of an impact. I suppose it's because it's easier to follow one commitment rather than two. However, with the tv kids, reducing tv seem to play a psychological effect on the kids, making them more "aware". I suppose we would want to teach that diet and exercise can only be of use if commited on a long-term basis. I hadn't thought of it, but maybe other than diet and exercise, we can approach our targeted audience with a "less tv and tech" approach
